Originally designed in 1944, a collaboration between Carl Hansen and Son and Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects, the VLA61 Monarch Chair was originally produced in only 10 copies, but now the chair is available to a wider audience for the very first time.

Named after the Monarch butterfly, the VLA61 Chair is a tribute to Vilhelm Lauritzen’s interest in the fluttering creatures which he studied throughout his life. Featuring curved armrests, teardrop-shaped curvatures, brass feet, and hand-polished joints, the chair embodies an artistic expression that is light and sumptuous at the same time. The Monarch Chair is available in a variety of upholstery colors and wood types including FSC™-certified mahogany and oak.
