About This Product: The BOTANICA collection is the result of the first collaboration between GAN and the London-based German designer, Bodo Sperlein. Known for his lush and sensory way of integrating artisanal crafting processes with organic and contemporary designs, the surfaces of the BOTANICA collection rugs have a strong biophilic character that establishes a direct connection between the spaces in which they are integrated and nature.

“The design of BOTANICA is inspired by the organic forms and textures found in nature, particularly in flora and fungi. Their intricate structures, soft curves and layered elements are the basis of the design of this collection, with which I have tried to reflect the beauty and complexity of the natural world,” explains Bodo Sperlein.

Bodo Sperlein has achieved his high level of detail in the representation of the drawing and its pronounced volumetric effect through a careful selection of the nuances of each color and the use of different pile heights. By using gradients and subtle changes in hue, the BOTANICA rugs create an illusion of depth and movement, which enhances their organic fluidity and three-dimensional presence.

The combination of two artisanal techniques, hand-tufting and carving, is what allows the intricate details and dynamically appearing texture of BOTANICA to be crafted. With the mixture of these two techniques, different elevations can be executed within the same design, mimicking the undulations and organic contours present in the universe of botany, thus reinforcing the natural inspiration of the collection. “I am particularly drawn to organic forms, materiality, and the relationship between craftsmanship and contemporary aesthetics. Nature, movement, and tactile qualities are often recurring elements in my designs,” summarizes Bodo Sperlein.

Due to their powerful expressiveness, the rugs in the BOTANICA collection are ideal for spaces where warmth, sophistication, and a natural touch are sought, such as contemporary homes, boutique hotels, creative workspaces, and neutral interiors. They complement very well those environments where the intention is to emphasize natural materials, soft lighting, and an atmosphere of tranquility. “They are pieces that evoke a sense of connection with nature, offering warmth, serenity, and organic beauty to interior spaces. They embody a harmonious balance between craftsmanship and nature, fostering a deeper appreciation of the tactile and visual richness of natural environments,” reflects Sperlein.

The BOTANICA rugs are available in three color ranges: gray, green, and yellow. They feature an organic and irregular outline, available in two sizes: one slightly square, 200x200 cm, and an elongated format, 240x370 cm.
