Inspired by the science-fiction steam-powered, gear-driven time machines that define the steampunk genre, the Steampunk Bay® Series captures the zeitgeist of today’s industrial design ethos. Employing utilitarian shapes and slightly distressed finishes, Steampunk Bay is refreshingly devoid of today’s immersive digital technology. Plus, the retro-futuristic collection features an array of customization options allowing designers, architects, and homeowners to create a personalized expression of industrial style in the bath.

A mashup of Victorian aesthetic and “cyberpunk,” the steampunk genre has its own subculture encompassing fashion, music, literature, movies, and gaming. Extending this retro-futuristic look to faucetry, the Steampunk Bay Series blends functional utilitarian shapes and slightly distressed finishes with solid brass construction and today’s best water-saving sink technology. This powerful yet elegant series takes its cues from industrial-age precision markings, wheel assist handles, and surface textures. In fact, the shower trim is based on an actual 1920s-era steam valve gauge with steel dial and vintage markings and typeface.

The versatile collection includes a single hole version (which can also be used as a bar faucet) as well as widespread or wall-mounted versions. In addition, the series offers two spout options: curved high-arc spout or a slightly square low-spout design. A choice of three handle styles includes a Wheel design reminiscent of antique gears used to turn cog wheels, a trapezoidal, wing-like Widespread handle design, and Blade handle, with a triangular shape, reminiscent of an airplane rudder. To accentuate the industrial look, the series offers Roman Tub sets, Bidet sets, Towel Bars in three sizes (9-in., 18-in., and 24-in.), Robe Hooks, Toilet Paper Holder, and more. Like all California Faucets products, each piece is available in a choice of 28 artisan finishes including 15 Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) finishes guaranteed not to tarnish.

In a product niche not often touted for its innovation, Steampunk Bay cleverly fuses the old with the new, creating a fresh update on popular “industrial chic” style.
