Fade is a tethered height-adjustable benching system with a waterfall edge for privacy and multiple screen barriers between neighboring deskmates. The waterfall edge is a modesty panel that moves with the work surface when the user adjusts the system’s height. A ⅜-inch gap and glides between the waterfall surface and the end panel prevents it from leaving tracks on the end panel when the user lifts and lowers it. There are two additional privacy elements: desk-mounted front screens and vertical side screens between neighboring workstations. The panels provide privacy at multiple points and are removable, making it simple to return to an open plan. The desk-mounted screen is a PET, laminate, or veneer panel at the front of each desk that attaches to the desk's cable manager, moving up and down with the desk without additional manual adjustment. This panel provides privacy from the person directly across from the user at both standing and seated height. Large vertical laminate, veneer, or writable dividers provide privacy between neighboring deskmates are mounted to the base of the structure. Both panels offer acoustic properties. A facilities person can easily remove both the side and desk-mounted screens. Another notable feature is Fade’s mess-free cable organizer Nest: the cable manager is mounted to the underside of the work surface and includes a power strip with coiled cord. The coiled cord travels from the cable manager to the separate power beam keeping all descending cables organized.
