Thom Filicia for MDC
Product > Wallcovering: Contract
From industrial to inviting, basic to beautiful, distinguished designer Thom Filicia infuses his decorator’s touch into his first-ever wallcovering collection. Filicia, best known for his lifestyle designs, collaborates with leading wallcoverings and design solutions company MDC, to fill a perceived void in the marketplace, which can oftentimes feel impersonal and distant.
“Each style is one I’d feature in my own home,” said Thom Filicia, interior design expert for MDC. “That was the goal of this collection – the look and feel of residential and natural wallcoverings with the durability and price point to fit a multitude of contract settings.”
For instance, Reedland Lustre looks to be an intricately woven natural material with pops of shimmering silver against a rich, earthy backdrop. Latitude Trellis uses geometric shapes inspired by architectural surroundings to add depth and dimension to vast areas, while Tussah resembles the calm and tranquility of a remote lake. The collection embodies classic design with a modern, unexpected twist. In full scale, the patterns truly resemble artwork.
Despite the collection’s cozy-chic appearance, each of the 13 styles is printed on 54-inch 20oz. Type II Contract Vinyl Wallcovering for durability and cleanability.
Thom, founder and principal of design firm, Thom Filicia, Inc. and well-known for his days on the Emmy-Award winning hit show, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, creates stunning modern, yet classic interiors and is expected to launch more styles with MDC – the exclusive distributor of the Thom Filicia commercial wallcoverings collection – later this year.
MDC’s Thom Filicia products are NSF342-certified, the foremost standard by which to evaluate and certify sustainability of wallcovering products across the entire product life cycle. The standard includes relevant criteria from raw material extraction through manufacturing, distribution, use and end-of-life management.
